Deep amber and copper coloured body with a rich ruby and brown glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of yeast, bread, alcohol, malt, caramel and a bit of nuts. Medium-bodied; Very bready and yeastie flavours abound with a lot of malt and nuttiness, some subdued caramel and pit fruit sweetness, and more body and yeast at the end. Aftertaste is fairly one-sided with yeast and malts with only a touch of sugars and no real complexity. Overall, a decent beer, but not as robust as it could have been, given the style. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-May-2015 for US$2,24 sampled at home in Washington on 17-July-2015, exactly two months later, a few minutes after purchasing my next trip to Chicago.

Bottle. Banana, peach, butter, and toffee malt aroma. Hazy amber with nice head. Sweet banana, peach, orange, caramel malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body.

Can: Pours deep copper with a thick, tan head. Berry, fruity aroma. Taste is sweet caramel malt, nutmeg, berry.....very malty..... More of a winterfest than a Belgian.... Nice flavour....very light for the ABV.

16oz can. Most Belgian dark ales are dark...this is a light amber-orange color. Foamy, thin off-white head. Creamy and mild on the palate. Sweet sugary malt tones, some fruity tones that you would assume come the yeast, but wouldn’t be surprised if this is lightly spiced either. The filtration keeps it really clean, drinkable. Certainly fails as a Belgian Dark Ale, but is kind of a cool Winter Warmer.

Sampled from the tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a clear golden orange with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has tropical fruit, sweet citrus and light grains with a bit of coriander. Flavor has sweet grains and sweet citrus with a coriander finish.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a very cold start to December. Appearance is a dark ruby with not much head. Aroma of caramel, spice, sweetness, syrup. Taste is decent, gets better as it warms. The strongest ingredient is sweetness, tastes too sweet for me.
