Punkenhead is a big sweet beer with low hop bitterness. It is brewed with real pumpkin added to the mash and the boiling wort for a double punch of pumpkin flavor. The beer is then finished with the perfect amount of spice making this beer reminiscent of Grandma’s pumpkin pie; you will be looking for the whipped cream to top it off!

tap - This year’s punkunhead is the regular release, not the imperial version. It has a rich aroma full of pumpkin pie spices. The flavor is very sweet with nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. There’s soft carbonation and a medium body. Overall it’s pretty good though a little sweeter than is my preference.

Tap at brewery. Strong cinnamon-clove-ginger, light pumpkin malt aroma. Slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Strong clove and cinnamon flavor, which overwhelms what little pumpkin malt I could taste. Slightly bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. I’ve had quite a few different pumpkin beers this season (15+), and this is not an especially good example, in my opinion.
