If you’ve got a destination in mind, it’s not the best time to ride the Lion. But, if you’re ready to meet the Lion halfway in terms of destination, brace yourself and hold on tight! Influenced by Head Brewer Dan Lipke’s Scottish roots, Ride the Lion is a Wee Heavy Ale aged in fresh bourbon barrels. A strong malt body couples with rich bourbon notes to give this Wee Heavy a full range of malt flavor in this take on a classic Scottish style.

Pours deep mahogany into a thistle. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Molasses, bourbon and oak aromas. Thick with sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning to smooth vanilla and oak before the lasting burnt caramel finish.

Yeast, bourbon, and oak nose. Dingy ochre, thick yellow head, good lacing. Oak and lemon zest, malty. Wam, but the bite is on the back of the palate on down. Medium body. Pretty good if you like bourbon

Bottle thanks to Chris. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is vanilla, oak, and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with candy sugar, vanilla, oak, and sweet finish.
