Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a shaker. Clear dark copper with small/medium off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body, low carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is caramel malt, dark malt, and some fruit.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small creamy beige head. Faint roasted malt aroma. Smooth roasted malt flavor is somewhat subdued, yet exhibits notes of dark caramel and dried fruits. Very drinkable, with a touch of spicy resinous hops in the finish.

Hohoho! 12 ounce bottle thanks to Dan. Pours a dark brown red color with a small beige head. A yeasty and fruity nose some chocolate. Fruity smooth flavor with toffee, sweet chocolate, dry and yeasty at times. Excellent. Perfect for tonight.

20th Anniversary bottle via a trade. Pours with a fading off-white head and a hazy brown body. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, dates and cereal. Taste is caramel, tea, dark fruits and light suntan lotion. Fizzy.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. This beer pours dark mahogany brown color with a thin and creamy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, caramel and dark fruits. Medium body with a malty flavor profile that has notes of chocolate and raisin. The finish is roasted malt and dark fruit but does not linger much at all. Above average overall.

12oz bottle. Brown-amber color. Aroma is sweet and mild. Flavor is sweet and drinkable, with some chocolate and amber notes. Medium bodied, not unlike a Dunkle. A mild crispy hoppy character helps to balance the beer out. Pretty good beer, certainly an enjoyable seasonal.

Nice chunky brown coloured body with a perfect sized tan head. Nearly perfect for the style. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, cherries, pit fruits and a bit of alcohol - fairly nice. Medium-bodied; Roasted malt up front with hints of nuts and raisins with some plums shortly behind. Aftertaste shows mostly must and metal - nothing special here! Overall, a decent beer, showing some promise but having it fade away slowly near the end. Worth trying, but don’t be expecting an amazing dunkel. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 15-January-2008.
