Local’s Light is a classic American Lager crafted by Joe Short in 2004 to be “beer in its simplest form”. It’s a bright yellow beer with effervescent aromatics of fresh malted barley and lager yeast. Local’s Light has soft and subtle flavors of malt that finish crisp and clean making it perfectly balanced for smooth and easy drinkability.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Ann Arbor Roosevelt, 3/15/16, as Local’s American Lager. Slightly hazy golden, thin fizzy tan head good retention. Aroma of skunk and corn? Also some hay and grass. The taste is grainy malt, corn, grassy hops. Thin bodied.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 6/19/2013. Pours lightly hazy pale golden straw color with a small fairly dense white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of cracker, bread, pear, apple, grape, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt, yeast, and light hops; with solid strength. Taste of pear, apple, grape, cracker, bread, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice and pleasant balance of malt and yeast ester flavors; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light bodied; with a very smooth and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid craft brewed light lager. Nice balance of flavors with solid robustness; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Aroma and flavor are both pale malts, but unfortunately with an off flavor slightly like foot. Honestly, I don’t think I could tell this from a macro lager. Very disappointing coming from Shorts.

On tap. Poured a very pale gold with no head. Aroma was a light grain and a hint of grass hops. Flavor was light as well with grain, grass and hay.
