Developed in the mid 90's by John Henry Archiable (you may know him as Jack, or possibly "The Old Man") and brewed by Traverse Brewing Company, this Oatmeal Stout has won multiple Gold Medals over the years at events such as the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth. Twenty years later, it's still a winner with its big, roasty flavor and underlying chocolate balance. The wonderful hop profile comes from the symmetry of 5 hop additions including whole cone. Traverse Brewing Company was the first brewery in the region since 1920 and John Henry Stout is our tribute to the man who sparked the brewing revival in the Grand Traverse area. Well done Old Man.

Draft. Wood ash and chocolate malt aroma. Brown-black with moderate tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter ash/herbal flavor. Nice body. Very solid.
