Dark amber. Aroma is grainy bread with some raisin and something starchy. Taste is sour citric malt with a little sweet melasses. Not really balanced. Somewhat strange.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Hazy amber body with a beige head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel and tea. Flavour of earth and stewed pear. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Sweet and earthy. Nice.

Clear deep amber colour, tall frothy beige head, good retention and lacing. Aroma toasted and sweet malt, caramel, candy sugar, faint dark fruits. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, dark bread, malty, caramel, light spicy note. Medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, caramel, light chocolate note. Easy to drink, very nice.

Hofbräu Winterzwickl, Flasche von Logo, Alsfeld. - Dunkles Kupferbraun, leicht trüb; üppiger Schaum. - In der Nase elegant würzig-toastiges Malz mit hintergründiger Hopfenherbe. - Antrunk aromatisch malzig mit Brotkruste, Haselnuß, ein wenig Karamel und einem Hauch von Bitterschokolade, gekonnt abgeschmeckt mit feinem zitronig-herbalem Hopfen. Nur dezent malzsüß. Milder rezent, schön gerstig. Im Abgang milde aber aromatische nussige und herbale Herbe. Leicht metallischer Nachtrunk. - Schönes Bier mit einem Blumenstrauß feiner Aromen, das zwischen Dunkel und Kellerbier changiert. (3.1.2020.)

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a hazy caramel brown colour with a thick frothy beige head. Lively carbonation. Nice lacing. Lovely aroma of caramel, bread, dark fruits, berries and a little sweetness. Taste is very similar to Aroma with added toasted, nutty and spicy notes. Medium bodied, light carbonation on the palate with a very slightly oily mouthfeel. Nice fairly long bittersweet finish. Well balanced. Lovely tasty beer and very Christmassy.
