Timed to coincide with the holiday season, a very special lager is brewed with honey, oranges, and spices. This beer uses two pounds of honey per pound of malt in its brew, making it an exceptional fortified holiday specialty beer which will keep for years. The spices and hops balance the sweetness of the honey and malt to give this lightly hopped beer its perfect flavor.

Bottle dated Nov. 06. With this kind of alcohol, I’d hope it can stand being tasted at 6 months old. Nice deep coppery red that doesn’t want to admit much light, Smell does show a little honey and wassail spice. Taste is richly sweet. Honey is there, as is a bit of orange and more spices. Strong warming alcohol, some cinnamon, nutmeg, maybe some ginger, but not as strong as would be in a pumpklin pie beer, thanks. Also has hints of Vernor’s soda, or the spicy 7-up Gold of 20 years ago. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.A good nightcap to a long day. Being a Lakefront beer I didn’t want to let it sit too long as my previous samples showed their age quickly, but this one may indeed cellar well.

Sampled at the Richmond Beer Industry Gathering 2006. Clear dark amber body with a small white head. Sweet spiced aroma. Strong spiced flavor with some light apples in the end.

A much bigger beer than I expected. Has the aroma of a pils. Red with a huge, thick white head. Lightly spiced flavors with some fruit. Very sweet and a heavy palate.

Bottle Pours a clear rather dark redish brown with a dense light tan head. Lots of fine lasting lacing. Quite a lot of sweet spice and orange aromas. Like candy almost. Mulled. Tart dry spicy flavor. Cinniman, cloves, honey and some apple cider flavors. Feel is soft carbonation and finish is sweet and clean. Some trainlng bitterness. A nice surprise. Thanks again to MrFacto

I have really enjoyed trying all of the deifferent holiday beers I have been finding lately. This beer pours a dark amber color with a thin light beige head. Aroma immeditattely reminded me of cinnamon-flavored dental floss. Orange smell was also present. The flavor consisted of spices, hops and honey and while slightly unbalanced it was still enjoyable with a rather dry finish.
