Authentic German smoked beer brewed to commemorate the Monks of Germany who fasted and remained from eating meat during lent. Church law said nothing about liquid, so the monks smoked their malt, creating a very tasty beverage that reminded them of food. Brewed with 55% smoked malt.

Tap at source: Cloudy orange with a short, white head. Aroma is smoke, wood, ham... Taste is slightly citrusy, smoked ham, barley.. An exceptional offering of the style....

Tap at brewery. Sweet honey cured applewood smoked ham aroma. Amber with a small white head. Sweet applewood smoke and honey cured ham flavor. Medium body and carbonation. Absolutely fantastic smoked beer, right up there with some of the best I’ve tried.
