A deep golden color leads one to an extremely flavorful, yet very drinkable beer of great character. Treat this malt monster with respect! Available March and April.

Pours gold into a stem glass. Bright white head recedes to coat surface. Sweet cookie and malt aromas. Thin with caramel upfront and a lasting alcohol burn.

Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours copper with a little creamy/bubbly white head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt with a touch of something like citrus. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is definitely lightly roasted malt with some hop bitter for balance. Hop is floral/earthy rather than citrus/pine. Fairly tasty.

12oz bottle. Hazy, translucent brown-orange. Frothy head, that fades away after a few minutes. Big, rich, and malty. This is a pretty well done, would hold it’s own in Bavaria..well maybe. Big sweet malt is well balanced by some soapy hops. Full bodied enough to let you know its strong, but never harsh. Interesting fruity pungency. OK.

Sample at the Eurostash tasting on 04/30/09: The beer is a mostly clear golden-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt, yeast and fruit in the nose. Medium body that is almost syrupy at times. Flavors of malt, caramel and fruit with underlying yeast and very little hops. The finish is fruity with a toasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pour is an orange with a average white head. Aroma is of doughy sweet malts with some fruity esters. Flavor is again sweet malts with some yeast. I can’t give this a better score as the sweetness kind of gets more cloying the more you drink it. Still it has some qualities just not something i would probably get again.

12 oz bottle. Pleasant yeasty aroma, diminutively volatile to the nose once in the glass. Slightly darker than pale yellow with no visible CO2. Good fizz on the palate however. Taste is rather medicinal in nature, orange alky @ times. Finish is medium lingering bite. Certainly is 8%.

Bottle. Poured honey amber with thick white head. Powerful malt aroma, grass, honey, light syrup. Medium flavour with strong malt tones. Sweet finish with a hop kiss. Seek it in spring. Doesn’t tast as strong as it is.

My bottle says "platinum blonde doppelbock," but I assume it’s the same beer - clear, fizzy, honey-colored beer - fairly sweet aroma, with some light herbal character and a european hop bite underneath - honey flavor up front - a little too sweet - medium herbal and hop bitterness in the middle - the sweetness becomes prominent again in the finish, and a grainy flavor comes in - the alcohol is apparent at the end, but just enough to be warming - decent.

Thanks to ughsmash for this one! Creamy head of off-white over a medium yellow/amber body. Light bready malt aroma with just a touch of hops. Smooth, easy drinking. Could be a bit more robust to get a higher rating from me.

Sampler from bottle. Boy, why can’t I get hands on more Capital beers? Anyway, this is very light in color… as befits its name, I guess. Sugary and malty, kind of like french toast with syrup. Yet I like this one a lot.
