“Busted Knuckle Red” is best described as a fortuitous meeting between an easy-going Irish Red Ale and a sultry femme fatale Belgian Double. The beer promises to have a malty belgian sweetness with roasted red attitude. Crystal and Munich malts, some roasted barley complimented by belgian candy sugars elevate this brew to a new level of quaffability…and the fuggle hops provide an earthy, mellow undertone. Pours a dark reddish-amber color with a thin and foamy white head that dissipates quickly to a film. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and mild hops. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, ripe fruit and slightly spiced hops. The finish is short and malty. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle (and an impressive bottle at that). Buttery toffee malt and bitter herbs aroma. Dark brown color with moderate head. Lightly sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter herbal hops flavor. Body on the light side. Not bad - wish the malt flavor came out more though.

Draft. Deep brown body with a creamy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Notes of roast in the aroma along with hints of caramel, bread, grains. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Some acidic tartness in the finish. Tastes like a brown ale because of its roast flavors.
