Sample at Lizardville. Black pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character of coffee and malt, with a slightly tart fruit flavor in the background. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle. Deep brown body with garnet highlights. Fizzy, tan head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, ash, coffee with a hint of chocolate. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, lightly bitter and lightly to moderately tart, a tartness that is out of place. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Too thin in the mouthfeel, but far worse is the cherry tartness that tastes like the beer is slightly infected. Pretty much overshadows everything else, except the aroma. Drain pour.

Bottle. Oats and chocolate malt aroma. Dark black-brown color with giant tan head. Light sweet chocolate malt, light ash and mild bitter herbal flavor. Very light body. Not a bad flavor, just not much there.

12 ounce bottle from a sampler from Belmont Party Supply. Pours a very dark brown color with a medium brown creamy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, slightly nutty, with a sweet finish. The taste is bitter roast, oatmeal, bitter hops. Thin-medium bodied.

Black pour with a tall brown head- exactly what a stout should look like. Roasted malts, molasses, cocoa, light vanilla, and some oats. Medium bodied with a bubbly palate. Flavor has most of the notes found in the great aroma but all it’s just a bit lacking. Roasted, molasses, light cocoa, and a bit of oats. Real nice stout just needs the flavor pumped up a bit. Could go a few rounds with this one.
