Think of it as a hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put any lemon in it. 6.4% ABV.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with some chunks and a large creamy orange-tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sourdough bread, caramel and was a touch meaty. The flavor was dryish, dusty, earthy and bready with an off sour caramel presence. The finish was long, dusty, earthy and bready. Medium body. Disappointing.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper color with a thin, creamy, beige head. Lots of particles floating about. The aroma is apples, cinnamon, oranges, plums, and licorice. The flavor is bready malts and some fructose sweetness, with a mild hop bitterness in the middle and finish. The palate is light to medium, effervescent and creamy, with a smooth, clean finish. Overall, this is a delicious and understated beer.

Bottle. Sweet prune and ripe banana malt aroma. Hazy chestnut color with small head. Sweet prune, banana, light clove and toffee malt flavor. Decent body. Okay but this bottle was a bit past its prime.

22 oz bottle, Hazy caramel with slightly lighter hues around the edges, can’t see through, short lived white head, shrank to a thin layer which left light lacing. Noticeable floating sediment-yeast. Lively carbonation. Aroma is like apple cider and a light fig in the background. A straight forward light apple taste with a strong wheat back bone, with a touch of caramel. We could not find any banana here. Dry finish. A nice beer that I would purchase again.

Been a long time since I had a great divide, but their stuff is usually solid, and so is this. Had it on tap at the house of 1000 beers. Brownish clear pour with a nice head. Really friendly banana aroma, lovely and fresh. Smooth weisse feel and cool teasy feel. Good beer experience, love this style. Fun and friendly; like this stuff. Civilized and socialable thru and thru!

22 oz. bottle, pours reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of nuts, roasted malt, almost a fungi smell, and some sweet caramel. Flavour of wheat, roasted malt, some caramel, clove and grains.

Pour is a cloudy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is caramel, yeasty and dark fruit. Flavor is thick and chewy with some caramel and again with some yeast. I did not really get any banana or clove which was dissapointing. This was just ok and i don’t think i would purchase another.

Maple syrup and horehound nose, with hints of chocolate. Cloudy ochre, thin yellow head. Oddly tart flavor of maple syrup and strawberries. Horehound comes and goes. No banana, no clove. A bit of a disappointment as this is both my favorite style and favorite brewer.

Bottle. Poured a dirty brown with a light brown head. Aroma had notes of dark wheat and dark malts with undertones of banana. Flavor had notes of dark sweet malts and bananas.
