We took our Dubbel and brewed it with an English base malt, Maris Otter, with superior malting characteristics. Maris Otter adds unique flavour to the beer, that is rich and slightly nutty.
The taste of beer is balanced by the malt sweetness, the notes of dried fruits and the light touch of hops, all contouring a complex profile.

Pours clear, dark copper. Medium brown. Small white head. Smell is spices, caramel, bit candy. Medium intense. Taste is medium intense, bit phenolic, very mild esters. Caramelly, bit malty. nice balance. Touch of bitterness.

Hazy red-brown, beige head. The aroma is pretty rich dark fruit, alcohol soaked plums, light crystal sugar and spicy booze, notes of toasted dark bread crust. The taste is similar, but drier and less fruity. The body is quite easy drinking, which is not to be unexpected from a beer brewed with sugar or any Belgian beer for that matter - my only problem is that when I get a 8% abv beer, I am looking for a sipper, not a quencher. Still... very good and really Belgian.
