Wild Saison

This vibrant, bright, rose-colored saison is full of floral & spice notes mixed with hints of tartness from the foeder aging & hibiscus flowers. It is a unique creation brewed with rose hips, rose petals, & hibiscus, giving this saison a character & color all its own. A beautiful piece of art presented in a glass.

Bottle from Ølbutikken slightly cloudy red, smooth creamy lacing pink head. spicy (hibiscus), slighly sweet flowery (rose), belgian saison yeast, red fruits in the aroma. Very fresh, very delicate, very nice. flavor is belgian yeasty bitter, flowery sweetness probably from rosehips and rose petals, ends saison yeasty and mildly bitter. A saison a little on the sweet side, alc. is almost too strong, otherwise very easy drinking and wit a dry backbone even though it is sweet. I think this one will be best if served quite cold.

750 ml bottle, blend 3, courtesy of Cardinal Pub 6 Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Pink colour, large pinkish off-white head. Strong aroma of oxidised cider apples, red wine vinegar, farmhouse kitchen, oak and flowers. Moderately sour flavour with fruity notes (rose hips). Peppery and hoppy dry finish. Quite interesting, but not my favourite beer.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks XA). Hazy copper coloured with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is farmyard, some bready, but sweet malts along with mild wood and some toffeeish notes. Flavour is wood, spices, herbs, fruityness, mild yeast as well as some quite bittery notes in the finish.

Bottle from a trade with drfabulous. Blend 7/8, bottled on 2/3/11. Pours clear coppery color with big tan head. Very light JP funk in the aroma. Some floral notes and doughy smell. A little dusty. Fruity flavor with slight tatrness and a flowery taste. Alittle peppery with some brett. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Quite enjoyable. Thanks Jeff.

Had this at the RB Pgh Tasting at lithy’s 5/21/11. Big thanks to MrChopin for this beauty! Pours with a big head that fades rapidly. Orangy clear appearance. Mild sweet attractive aroma. Interestingly tart on the first sip but not exceedingly sour. Just inough tartness to keep you in the ballpark. Quite nice and it has a mild bitter background. Quite gentlemanlike. Goes down easy but probably could not drink lots of this in a session. Grows on you as the session continues. Not bad overall. Thanks kevin for this beer experience - YOU ROCK!

Bottle. Another rubbish style from jolly. This is a sour, no way a saison. Stop it! Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Nice brett notes. No fruity notes! Moderate bitter flavor. Again way more brett than esters. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Capped 750 from Charleston Beer Exchange (then 5 cases showed up 10 miles away!). Pours lightly ruddy with a four finger pink tinged creamy head. Strongly floral aroma over a lightly sour malt. Med body. Flavor is nearly perfumey floral, but there are sour notes underneath. I think the rose petals are in charge. It’s sort of like mildly sour and earthy deluged in roses. Haven’t got a clue about the hibiscus. Never ate one. This one is way off the center line.

Pours deep, dark amber into a tulip. White congolmerate head with good retention craters leaving spider lacing. Funk and cinammon aromas. Leather and aspirin upfront turning to sour dried fruit before the lasing marshmallow finish.

Hazy amber color; medium sized head, not very persistent. The aroma, Bretty, is harmonious, fruity, with very nice smell of old cellar, spices (pepper) and very light Asian grocery; powerful. Highly carbonated, with a flowery malt profile, dry; a bit fruity; the final is hard, astringent, with limited acidity. Pleasant, but chaotic.
