Cask at Midland, Stockport. Pours golden yellow with a small foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. Is slow to settle but does so eventually. Malts to the fore over hops in the aroma – plus a hint of apples. In the mouth it starts of sweet (and somewhat watery) but with an underlying bitterness that gradually increases. Flavour has hops. Malts, pine and a hint of autumn fruits with citrus and spices coming through later leading to a slightly dry finish. This is decent – and quite swiggable.

Handpull cask at the Brewery Tap (part of the National Brewery Centre). Golden with a large cream-coloured head. Soft aroma of wheat, tangerine and a hint of astringency. Very bitter and astringent in the taste once the initial sweetness passes, gorgeous at first but a bit taxing closer to the end of the beer. Not a huge fan of ’Burton-y’ beers in general but when in Rome, etc, and this is nice.

Cask at the 2016 National Winter Ales Festival, The Roundhouse, Derby. Gold pour with a white head. Caramel and citrus aroma. Bags of citrus fruit in the flavour. Quite liked this one, would make a cracking session ale.
