Lucid, a kolsch ale, is New Hollands latest brand launch. It is a beer that takes its spot in the year-round line up in place of recently retired brands, Paleooza and Full Circle. Lucid’s refreshing quality is sure to make it a favorite session beer for many different beer drinkers. It has a soft and balanced malt character with a light hop profile and a crisp finish. We recommend it with salads, fish, grilled vegetables, and just about anything served on a patio.

Slight sour aroma when I pop the lid on this brown 12 oz bottle. Then it settles to something that smells more like fresh cut garden greens once poured into the glass. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager appearance. Taste is somewhat grassy and lacking in carbonation. Odd, mildly earthy and unique. I think I feel just a little carbonation but I really have to think about it,so I’ll give it a 2 for palate, otherwise it is surprisingly flat. Yes, rather strongish in the flavor, you can tell this is above 5%. Interesting impressionating mild bitterness is apparent yet not offensive. Finish is flat and haylike with a mild bitterness that hangs for a while after the finish. However, it is neither hops nor malt, just industrial in nature.

Bottle. It’s the first muggy hot day of the year, so a kolsch sounds like a good thing. Aromas are slighty floral with a bread presence that support it all. A little bit of yeast is preasant, too. Refreshing taste with a touch of a doughy sweetness to it. Maybe I’m just happy it summer, but I really liked this one.

Bottle. Clearish light straw body, thick off-white head. Spicy hops aroma with notes of lemon and bitter spice, backed by dry, cerealy malt. The body opens with light corny, biscuity malt, with notes of cookies and lemon. Bitter, grassy hops lend a crispness to the palate. Bitter, metallic finish. Quaffable.
