In the words of our President and founding father, Russ Klisch, "Klisch Pilsner is a meat and potatoes beer," meaning that though there are no darker specialty grains used to influence the color or texture of this beer, it is nonetheless a full-bodied satisfying all-malt brew. The recipe is simple, but how it is put together is what gives this beer its complexity. The deep golden color and malty flavor come from an ample amount of domestic malted barley and imported hops. The addition of Saaz hops added at the end of a two-hour boil gives the beer a wonderful balance with the accent on the hops.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/14/13
Aroma: The aroma is on the lighter side with some cereal malts, grass, and a little citrus
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color with a creamy white head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is clean and malty, similar to the nose, with a light sweetness and a light bitterness
Palate: The body is light but not watery, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a clean finish
Overall Impression: This is a decent but not great beer. I didn't love it, but I can certainly see it as a logical and perfectly drinkable option in certain situations.

Bottle @ home. Hazy, a bit orangish, golden appearance with an off white head. A little spicy, lightly tart fruity, grainy pale malty, straw aroma. Dull berry fruity, a touch tart, straw, grassy flavor. Tastes infected to me.

Bottle. Dark gold pour with thin fast dissipating head. Cloudy, not clear like a good pils. Full balanced grassy and malty aroma. Light to medium body, Thin spots. Finish seems uneven, now good, now watery. Tasted better cold than a little warmed up.

Bottle. Pours with a just somewhat hazy pale golden body and a white head. Aroma of grain, sweet bread, corn and grass. Taste has a bit of diacetyl up front, then grassy and bready. Not too bad. Fizzy though, very fizzy. Dry, no duration. Not bad in anyway, but not really good either. Non-offensive.

Dull colour, lacking both carbonation and head. Smells kind of catty, a little bit minerally, and fairly herbal. Drinks light - not really enough bitterness for a pilsner. Still a bit catty in the hop character. The malts aren’t bad, but they’re not bright either. A bit disappointing.

Bottle from a sampler from Whole Foods Market in Charlottesville. Pours pale golden with an almost nonexistent head. Malty aroma with some bitterness. The bitterness in the taste dies in the beginning and is followed by a somewhat offensive sweetness. Nice effervescence.

Firm aroma of light malt backed by noble hop. Much better than a typical American macro. Orange tinged golden color with a bubbly white head. Near medium body with mild, almost creamy, carbonation. The flavor is light malt, and near citrus hop. Of course it’s not citrus, but there is so much hop for this style. The finish is neither sweet nor dry, and the hop builds a little. Very clean. I agree, the accent is on the hops. All the comment on strength is compared to a typical American macro, not a crafted IPA. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised by this lager.

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a whitish head. Grassy malty aroma. Grainy malt flavor with mineral and grass. Medium body. Mineral and grass linger with a bit of sweetness. Some hops they don’t help much. Blah.

Pour is slightly hazy ubiquitous pale yellow american beer, however, the small amout of sludge on the bottom of the bottle yeilds a wheatlike swirl at the end. Good needling personality on the first taste. Has some lemon oil or citrus bite to it. Decent amount of carbonation. Ends with some bitter lasting industrial green citrus rind.
