Our American pale ale is aggressively hopped with Challenger and Cascade and has a sweet caramel finish. The flavor that launched RJ Rockers – and brewer Mark Johnsen’s personal fave.

Re-rate 5/16/12: Bottle. Beer of the month club (again...) Slightly hazy deep golden with medium white head. Aroma has decent citric and slightly floral hops. Flavor starts with some malt, slightly sweetish and caramelly, and continues bitter with floral and grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied. Pretty nice. 6/3/7/3/14=3.3

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Hazy deep golden color with a big white head. Nice floral and citric hops in the aroma. Flavor has some slightly caramelly malty sweetness at first, and lots of tasty, crisp, grapefruity hops bitterness, that is getting big in the long, lingering finish. Medium-bodied. A good American Pale Ale. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5

Pour is a copper with a small white head. Aroma is some caramel malt and a fruityness. Flavor is mild hops with mild malts. Nothing really stands out. People who are not really craft beer nerds would probably like this but I gotta nerd out and say there is not much to this one and its pretty weak.

From the beer of the month club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy apricot color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered forever and produced copious lacing. The aroma was sweet and bready with a light vague fruity hop presence. The flavor was bitter, tangy and somewhat sweet with light caramel and bread and light grapefruit, grass and pine. The finish was long, bitter, tangy and hoppy though a bit off. Fairly full bodied. Ok.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly's, 9/3/09

Aroma: Some pine hops, crystal malts, banana, tropical fruits
Appearance: Clear golden color, thick & fizzy white head
Flavor: Similar to the nose but less fruity, clean floral and pine hop flavors, honey, some malts
Palate: Light to medium in body, a bit sticky
Overall Impression: This beer is alright, you are not going to find a crazy good beer here by any means, but it is drinkable, and I liked it well enough...

Hazy orange hued, copper tinted body with a nice slightly soapy tan head - this is the perfect look for an APA! Aroma of fresh cascade hops, a bit of metal and some light caramel. Light-bodied; Assertive malt and metal flavours in the taste, but hardly any hops and the bitterness isn’t potent at all. Aftertaste is mild and unassuming - some hops, but mostly dry malt - odd. Overall, a good smelling and looking beer, but it must be all dry hopping, since there is not much flavour to this one! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 11-July-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 27-July-2009.

Citrusy aroma with orange dominating some lesser lemon and shortbread notes. Opaque golden with floaties and a thin head. Surprisingly bitter Tastes of grapefruit and oranges that are less than fresh. Grapefruit zest finish.

12oz bottle. Hazy golden orange color. Light floral hop aroma. Light, earthy hoppiness. Medium bodied, relatively smooth finish. Crisp initial mouthfeel, with enough hops to keep it interesting, but there is a certain lack of depth. OK.

12 ounce bottle from Downtown Wine & Gourmet in Harrisonburg, VA. Pours a dark orange color with lots of carbonation. A medium white head with moderate retention and good lacing. Good but generic citrus hop aroma. Bitter hop taste with some citrus notes and a little bit of maltiness. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Peach malt and light hops aroma. Orange-tan color with small head. Slightly sweet orange/grapefruit fading into a fairly strong pine/grapefruit hops finish. Light carbonation - on the hoppier side for APAs. Nice, pleasant APA.
