Our American pale ale is aggressively hopped with Challenger and Cascade and has a sweet caramel finish. The flavor that launched RJ Rockers – and brewer Mark Johnsen’s personal fave.

12oz Bottle opened on 13th July 2014 and poured into stemmed Corsendonk badged tulip glass at my daughters place in Newport Beach, California. My first beer from this State, up to 30 now. Clear light amber body with carbonation bubbles rising to replenish the already deep off white head. No sediment left the bottle. Uncomplicated but far from dull, this packs a good hop punch in both the nose and taste: the malts being slightly understated and just below the surface, coming into their own towards the finish of each sip and getting more prominent as the beer warmed a little. Overall a very nice easy drink brew and a great find for me to add South Carolina onto my little list of US States ticks.

This is reviewed from notes as this was consumed during some time I spent in Delaware visiting for my brother’s wedding.
This was served in a pint glass.
The appearance was a fairly light amber color with a decent transparency about it. There was a nice one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice even pace. There was some adequate light lacing sticking finely to the sides of the glass.
The smell were some bitter hops but coming across somewhat burnt as I couldn’t really tell if they were citrus, piney or fruity. The hops just seemed burnt.
The taste well, that was pretty much the same. Hmmm....ok, well, uh...there’s a really fine watery aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sits fairly light and sessionable. The carbonation - what carbonation there isn’t any.
Overall, hmmmm...do I want to say this one missed the mark? Hmmm....normally, I don’t like to be that guy, but uh...to quote Bob Uecker in Major League, this one’s \"just a bit outside.\"

On tap at the Stag’s Head, Manhattan, NY on 5th July 2013. Gold, slightly hazy. Delicate hoppiness, smoke and berries in aroma. The taste in-mouth is very well balanced: hoppy bitterness, citrus and malts present along with zesty orange peel. Citrus hoppiness surround a bitter core in a finish that becomes increasingly bitter. Lightly zingy mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

12 oz. bottle from queenholly. Hazy amber color with a thin ring of white head. The aroma displays pine hops and light caramel malt sweetness. Citrus notes. The balance of malt and hops is perfect for the style. The bitterness is abrupt with the hops giving a slightly dry texture. Medium-bodied with good flavor. I was shocked after taking notes on this then seeing the ratings. Are raters getting old bottles or did the quality change at some point?? Anyhow, I enjoyed this APA; highly drinkable to my palate. I would order this on draft without hesitation. Or don’t drink and rate old bottles….

Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling VA. Deep amber in colour with a rocky, off-white head. Big, tangerine fruits, caramel, chewy biscuit malts, a touch of pine and a dry finish. Good.

From a 12 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a white head. Sweet caramel malt nose. Surprisingly hoppy flavor with a metallic finish.

Bottle. Caramel and pineapple hops aroma. Hazy dark gold with a small off-white head, light lacing. Grassy hops and light grainy malt flavor. Medium body, low carbonation. Not the most pleasant hop flavor, and could use a little more malt balance to suit my taste.

12 oz. bottle, smallish stable head, murky orange colour with some floaties, aroma of citrus and white fruits, flavour of citrus with a nice medium strong bitterness. Nice APA but a bit one dimensional.
