Community Dark First and foremost, Community Dark is English-style Mild Ale. We’ve dubbed it “Imperial Mild” because it’s a shade stronger than classic Mild. Light (bodied) but dark (colored), Community Dark is the ideal session ale and the best place to begin overcoming one’s irrational fear of the dark. English malts; lightly hopped with East Kent Goldings; London yeast. OG 1050

On tap at New Albanian, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out English malt, light burnt notes, and toasted crusty bread. Flavour is along the same lines, with burnt crusty bread and English malt. Not exactly true to style, but at least it's rather assertive. Decent.

5 oz sample draft at the New Albanian Pizzeria and Public House in New Albany, Indiana. The pour is a darker copper golden with a smallish off white head. The aroma is roast, nuttiness, grass and a bit pine. Nice soft, full, natural nose. The taste has all of the elements of the nose balanced and integrated nicely together. Lightly sweet, nutty, grassy pine, and soft roast to the finish. Fresh, a bunch of character for a mild. The palate has great body, light, easy drinking. Fresh, clean and really tasty. Great mild - highlight of the night.

Draft. Deep brown/cola body. Fizzy off-white head. Light aroma of roast and toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. A light lager with some roasted malt notes. If you dig deep enough, you can get a little nutty flavor and some caramel, but not much else.

On tap at Rich O’s Publick House when I stopped on the way to Dark Lord Day. Pours clear dark brown with a fleeting tan head. Mild sweet malt and alcohol make up the aroma. A light palate that delivers a malt forward flavor profile.
