Under the leadership of Otto Koehler, City Brewery began brewing quality beer from the water discovered in the "Country of 1100 Springs." It was named Pearl, just like the pearl-like bubbles that rose in every freshly poured glass of Pearl Beer. Only nature’s finest ingredients and pure water allow the delicate flavor of Pearl to sparkle through-Since 1886.

12 oz. clear bottle purchased at Total Wine - The Rim, San Antonio, TX. Pours a crystal clear dark gold color with a large white head and very good retention. Good lacing. Souring pale malts aroma. Generic pale malt flavor. Soft mouthfeel. Flat body. Not much of anything, but not terrible either.

From old tasting notes. Hazy, honey gold color. Creamy white head. Malty, corn syrupy aroma. Tangy citrus fruit flavor. Light hop finish is brief and watery.

Another small brewery beer swallowed by Miller. Still drinkable but doesn’t seem to be as good as prior to the take-over. It may just be my prejudice but it’s not the beer it used to be and the one Robert Earl Keen sings about.
