A rich Russian Imperial Stout aged in oak bourbon barrels for 10 months. A high alcohol content is a staple of this savory Stout, weighing in at 9.5% ABV. The malt profile provides huge roasted, chocolate and dark fruit flavors, paired with heavy bourbon characteristics and oak flavors.

Backlog. This is confusing as RB has multiple entries for Dramanatrixxx. From what I can find online, it looks like it’s always bourbon barrel aged and spelled with three ‘x’s. Anyway, not pours black with a small tan head. Smells of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet but not too sweet with chocolate and coffee. Full body and roasty, the bourbon is minimal. Yummy beer though.

From backlog. Draught @ Public House, Las Vegas. Sweet, syrupy and woody oaky with loads of hot bourbon, vanilla, butter and hints of cocoa. Heavy and sticky.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 6/7/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, molasses, licorice, raisin, cherry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, marshmallow, molasses, licorice, raisin, cherry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, coconut, light dark fruit/smoke/char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 9.5%, with no barrel booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome BBA Russian imperial stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Very rich imperial stout malt complexity, amazing barrel integration, and balancing earthy hops against sweetness. Not overly bitter, charred, tannic, boozy, or drying. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
