We $pared no expen$e with $plurge, a Double IPA that is lavi$hly hopped with $even different fancy a$$ hops—Simcoe, Citra, El Dorado, Azacca, Cascade, and Mosaic—for a slightly hazy, extra citrusty, super fruity and decadently-tropical IPA that is shockingly smooth and incredibly indulgent. Treat yo’$elf!

Pours hazy orange with minimal head It has a resinous, fruity hop aroma. There’s resin and citrus hop in the flavor with a big malt body. The long hoppy finish leaves a pleasant bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Pours a murky yellow with an off-white head. A ripe tropical fruit aroma, I want to say mango? Flavor is more along the lines of orange and grapefruit, but still rather tropical overall (passion fruit?). Anyway, it's quite juicy, fresh, and good.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/7/2019. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, hat reduces to a large cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.1%. Overall this is an outstanding DIPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Nicely soft feel, and not aggressive. 7 hop blend feels like Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Columbus, Centennial, Cascade. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hops; with a nice sized dark/bready malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example.
