Track 3 is a forgotten gem off a lost album. After spending a collective 3 years in a variety of oak, rum, and bourbon barrels, it was mixed and mastered during a final maturation in the bottle, and now we’re busting it back out and turning it up, just in time for fall! The intro to this spiced sour ale begins with soft aromas of sweet cinnamon, caramel, and carob chips. Take a sip and you’ll find a verse full of spiced pear cider, leather, oak, and a whole chorus of cinnamon and pumpkin spice. The outro fades away into a whisper of smoked lemon zest, and crisp autumn leaves. Be sure to hit that repeat button, listen again, and enjoy!
Please take pity on these spiders from mars, and grant them the curse of immortal life.
Let them stare for a thousand years.
Until they become darker than the night.
And vanish into it.
Cheers and Mahalo plenty!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/1/2017. Pours fairly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, starfruit, citrus peel/zest, pumpkin, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, cinnamon, coriander, clove, peppercorn, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, oak, hay, straw, grass, cracker, white bread dough, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of cocoa, honey, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of pumpkin, starfruit, pumpkin spices, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, bourbon/rum barrels, and cocoa/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, starfruit, citrus peel/zest, pumpkin, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, cinnamon, coriander, clove, peppercorn, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, oak, hay, straw, grass, cracker, white bread dough, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of cocoa, honey, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin/pumpkin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, starfruit, citrus peel/zest, pumpkin, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, cinnamon, coriander, clove, peppercorn, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, oak, hay, straw, grass, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, cocoa, honey, leathery/musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, starfruit, pumpkin spices, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, bourbon/rum barrels, and cocoa/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sour/spiciness balance; and no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering sour/tart/tangy/spiciness. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 8% after the finish. Overall this is an awesome fruited/spiced sour saison. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, starfruit, pumpkin spices, fruity/funky/spicy/acidic yeast, bourbon/rum barrels, and cocoa/bready malt flavors; dangerously smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV, with the mellowly spicy/acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Awesome balance of pumpkin, starfruit, pumpkin spices, and classic JP Brett/bacteria/saison yeast complexity; with awesome barrel presence/integration and cocoa/malts against acidity. Mild residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy/spicy dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected. Not overwhelming on any aspect.
