500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black/purple color with a 2 finger fairly foamy and fluffy khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, cherry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, and toasted/brown bread; with lighter notes of leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of blackberries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and moderate dark/roast/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, cherry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, and toasted/brown bread; with lighter notes of leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oaky earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannic spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy berries, cherry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, apricot, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, cocoa, toasted/brown bread, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of blackberries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and moderate dark/roast/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and spiciness balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering sour/tart/tangy/spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an amazing fruited black sour ale. All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of blackberries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and moderate dark/roast/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the moderately acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Overly lactic/tannic. Amazing balance of super jammy blackberries and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with a nice sized dark/roast/bready malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy/tannic dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected of the brewery.
