The genetic origin of Oats in its wild ancestral form can be traced back to the Fertile Crescent, the same region where the Assyrian empire dominated rule.
Ashurnasirpal II and his son Shalmaneser III were ruthless military conquerors who became infamous for their treatments of conquered cities. Burning, Decapitating, Flaying their enemies alive and nailing their skin to the city walls were their preferred methods. The rebelling city of Ki-ka and their leader suffered one of the most merciless displays of such cruelty. After making the leader (Ahuni, son of Adini) watch the decapitation of all his soldiers, he was Flayed alive, then his skin pinned to the city wall before they proceeded to set the city ablaze with the women and children inside.
“300 of their warriors I cut down with the sword. A pillar (tower) of heads I erected in front of the city.
...His cities I destroyed, I devastated, I burned with fire”
.
Nectarous citrus aromatics of ripe tropical fruits, marmalade and sweetgrass. A massive base of Oat varietals provide the foundation of mouthfeel for tangerine, sugared grapefruit, sweet tarts and tangelo.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy golden pour, thick, fluffy white head. Dank notes evident when the can is first opened. Aroma then settles on fruity, sweet elements. Taste walks a fine line between dank and fruit, dank bitterness taking over the finish. Latent alcohol warmth.

Can from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours hazy gold with a foamy/creamy near-white head. Aroma is mostly citrus - maybe with some tropicals providing a juicy aspect. Beyond medium body. Flavor is juicy - heading for dank - and has lots of mixed citrus and a decent amount of tropicals. Not truly dry; fruitily hoppy; pretty bitter. I'll go for orange/grapefruit/green melon. Very tasty stuff.

16 ounce can. Cloudy orange gold color. Finger high frothy beige head. Sharp citrus aroma hints at orange peel and pine. Sweet orange flavor upfront. Notes of mango, melon and peach. Warming alcohol notes. Juicy notes of tangerine and sweet tarts in finish. Long bittersweet citrus finish and aftertaste.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned in 6/2019. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, wheat, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/lightly earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, wheat, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/lightly earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance; and no cloying, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.6%. Overall this is an awesome oat DIPA. Al around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/lightly earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/resinous/drying finish; awesomely soft feel. Feels like a lot of Citra/Mosaic, maybe some El Dorado. Super juicy and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balance oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Well attenuated for the big ABV. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as expected.
