And you thought they had gone extinct thousands of years ago? Making this brew was a journey—our brewers were hacked back in time, struck by lightening and bitten by a cobra, and granted the awesome powers of Brew Fury. This Double IPA teams up the modern, hip Citra and Azacca with the stalwart Simcoe and Tricerahop. Though well balanced, this brew is extensively hopped, and the fruity, citrusy, grassy and floral hoppiness may cause you to shoot laser beams out of your mouth. It’s either the best damn partner you’ve ever had, or the worst criminal in history. Isn’t that right, Hoff 9000?

16 oz can from the brewery. Pours an orange golden with a light haze and an off-white head. Tropical hop aromas (mango), white grape, citrus, pine. Flavor mixes the citrus and tropical hops with some pine. Really very good.

16 ounce prowler into signature tulip glass; filled on 6/23/2019. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense, creamy, and rocky cream color head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 9.7% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Nicely soft and not overly aggressive. Amazing Citra, Azacca, Simcoe profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a nice sized dark/bready malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Well attenuated for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazingly well made style example. Loved the hop profile as expected.
