Honey color with a large foamy head. Tangy and malty with hints of tobacco and fruit. Medium finish and body.

16 ounce can. Deep amber orange color. Rocky beige head. Rich, malty aroma hints at toffee. Tangy, toasted malt flavor upfront. Notes of toasted challah bread, golden raisins, caramel and herbal hops. Some dryness on backend. Excellent interpretation of the traditional Munich Oktoberfest style of old.

Need to up IL ratings as one of closest states to 100, and i always will grab a new Oktoberfest or two in my basket. Medium copper mahogany pour. Nose is caramel and some dried fruits. Tatses of earth, caramel, some malt, plum, sweet potato. Chewy and not sweet.

Pour is a dark amber, almost red with a small white head. Aroma is a nice toasted bread with some spice to it. Flavor is bready malt with some toffee and a bit of alcohol showing up. Decent Americanized Oktoberfest with some chewy malt and a weird spice to it.

Draft at Standard Market. Opaque pour of autumnal russet brown. Half a finger of tan foam still hanging around well after the pour. A smell of toasty malts, some note of yeast, too. Taste has a big hit of toasty malts, with a little roast, too. Basic German hop spiciness. Again, some yeast in the taste as I go further down, but it still seems rather fresh. This is very hearty and filling, along the lines of older Oktoberfest beers. Some nice lacing from the foam, too, perhaps the haze in the beer is from some extra protein. But there’s nothing out of place here.

16 ounce can into dimpled mug, canned on 10/28/2018. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bready malts and earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of big lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness.Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance bready malts and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, minimal fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Light lingering resins through the glass. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.3%. Overall this is an excellent Pale Festbier. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance bready malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced clean Pils/Munich malts, and German noble hops. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressively well made style example. A bit too hoppy, but not overwhelming.
