I am repulsed by the description on this can, just gonnah do a tick, that's it. Volatile alky nose. Well at least it has this big giant almost choc-moose head and its commandingly & nearly darkl & black. Taste is better than expected initially. YEs, almost has some promise. Pretty good little buzz impact in the middle. Taste is starting to get cloying. Gitten more difficult as swigs go by. Big happy bullshit ending. Messy finish. Think of it more as a dark burnt stout thickly chocolate, heavily laced coffee coconut, maybe better without any coconut sugar. Yes, leaves you with a that typical cloying flavored richness sentiment beer feeling. Turned out to be as expected in the end. Quite a tortuous convoluted begrimed brew. Whew.

Sample at The Draft Room. Brown-black pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of coffee, malt and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, coconut, vanilla and chocolate malt. The finish is sweet with a vanilla mocha aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, unreadable can dating. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted coconut, vanilla, cream, biscuit, and dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, grass, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted coconut, vanilla, cream, biscuit, and dark bread; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, grass, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charcoal bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted coconut, vanilla, cream, biscuit, dark bread, molasses, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, wood, grass, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is a delicious flavored American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malt, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/charred/drying finish. Awesome balance of rich malts, toasted coconut, vanilla, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with balancing earthy hops against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on American style example. Not overwhelming on any aspect.
