Citra-Hero is powering up with the double dry hop suit, blasting forth with more citrus-edged hop impact. Five pounds of Citra, Motueka, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Kohatu hops per barrel make this a beer not to miss. Melon, berry, and tropical fruit flavors explode all the way through a smooth, dry finish.

This beer poured up a huge head that required staged pouring. That and the off-putting smell is a very bad sign. It tastes... bad. Yep, it's a messed up can. The heavy dose of hops makes it almost drinkable but it's not good at all.

12 ounce can. Orange gold pour. Small frothy beige head. Subtle citrus hop nose redolent of orange and grapefruit. Flavor follows nose with additional notes of apricot and caramel. Finish is bitter orange and pine. Long bitter aftertaste as well.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/13/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with amazing complexity and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted bread, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an amazing IPA! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Just as amazing as the base beer, but this time also has Simcoe and Kohatu for extra hop complexity. Insanely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hop complexity; great bready malt backbone, mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering as expected.
