Bottle dated 2018. Yes, I've let this get a little old. Light hop smell with a note of malt oxidation. Slightly hazy straw color, with a thin head that's sticking around for a while. So yes, there's a touch of phenol in the malt, but that fades out once the beer's been poured. Not a hop bomb, but rather a mix of fruity hops with bitterness just at the edge.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel/nutty, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with solid strength. A bit muddy. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel/nutty, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel/nutty, an d herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.66%. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with mild residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made Midwest style IPA. Great hop profile as expected of citra, azacca and amarillo.

solid IPA. Not sure how it’s classified an imperial IPA (maybe i don’t quite understand the designation) - but good overall.
