12 oz. bottle from Tavour. Thick slow dying head on a pitch black liquid. Aroma and flavor are a mirror image. Light chocolate, mild rum and astringent oak, thin body for a stout. The oak gets real astringent as it warms. Drink real cold or not at all.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/27/2018. Pours opaque pitch black color with a small dense tang head with great retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rum, fudge, marshmallow, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, smoke, herbal, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very slight rum barrel booze in the aroma as it warmed. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and rum barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rum, fudge, marshmallow, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of coffee, smoke, herbal, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very mild herbal/roast bitterness and rum/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rum, fudge, marshmallow, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, light coffee/smoke, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and rum barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet and rum/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and rum/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 9%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing flavored imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and rum barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. The rum barrels complement the imperial-ized base beer amazingly. Very rich malt complexity, with perfect balance of the coconut and rum barrels. Not overly roasty, bitter, or tannic. Not quite dessert level on sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering. I was a fan of the regular, but this is on another level of richness and complexity as expected of the higher ABV.
