12oz bottle. Black body, thin beige head. Medium bodied, sort of thin. Some age on the bottle actually improved it, perhaps mellowing out the vanilla and coffee tones some. Not too impressive, but drinkable enough. Sort of a watery finish, but I think that is OK for a Porter.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/27/2017. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of vanilla, smoke, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop/vanilla notes; with solid strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of vanilla, smoke, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke/dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop/vanilla flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice coffee porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop/vanilla flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Nice fruity/nutty coffee presence; with balanced and well rounded porter malt complexity. Not overly bitter or roasty. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.
