650 ml bottle spilt 4 ways, thank you Chalumeaux. The color is black with thin white head. Aroma is almost exclusively chocolate. Flavor has mild oak, moderate roast backbone. Hints of vanilla with a mild booze warming after the sip. Decent but I can’t ever seeing this as aging any better. And it is not elite. Not even close. Decent but can’t get real excited about this.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 915/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of roasted nuts, coffee, molasses, smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Slight touch of booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of roasted nuts, coffee, molasses, smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, dark/brown bread, roasted nuts, coffee, molasses, light smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is outstanding. Light chalky roast, oak tannins, and dryness. Alcohol is very well hidden; a very mildly increasing warmth of 10%, with no barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding barrel aged imperial chocolate stout! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Very rich with well rounded chocolate/sweet stout malt complexity, and perfect integration of the bourbon barrels. Never overly boozy, tannic, or drying. Far from their best stout, but the quality is extremely on point with the barrel presence. A highly enjoyable offering.
