Bottle. A- Cherry chocolate chip ice cream. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Roasty, chocolate, cherry, mild vanilla. P- Medium body, average texture, medium carbonation, balanced finish. O- I don't think they could have created a more cheeky label. It's terrible and cheap looking, which set me up to think this beer is going to be really sweet and fake tasting. I mean cherry vanilla porter and yet the describe talks about coffee and chocolate notes and not even cherry or vanilla! Okay then...as bad as I imagined it might be, it wasn't offensive. Mild cherry and vanilla and natural tasting but mostly roasted chocolate. Okay.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was roasty with floral hops, earthiness, coffee and a hint of Dr Pepper. The flavor was dry, roasty and dusty with floral hops and a bit of tart cherry. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Bottle. I never get these vanilla porters, ain't porter just simply grand a'la carte?? Dark of course, big black prezo. Smell is a little metal & vanilla. Head fades. First taste is good old porter with a mild tart cutting palate. Perhaps the cherry makes the tart? Second taste is same. Better than expected. Yes, I thought at first the vanilla was ok, but, then it starts to get a little on yer nerves. It Shirley surfaces in the middle. A little tang on there in the end, still not sher if I detect cherries. OK, but not as good as a Indigo Imp Gatekeeper, East End Pink Clouds Porter, Guinness Dublin Porter or even Yuengling Original Black and Tan

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of cherry, almond, smoke, char, coffee, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of cherry, almond, smoke, char, coffee, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/woody hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; slight fruit tartness. Lingering notes of vanilla, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice fruit/spiced American porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts, vanilla, and light cherry/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Great vanilla presence and well rounded malt complexity. Supporting earthy hops, and never too roasty or drying. Not a whole lot of cherry, but just enough to be noticeable. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Sample at Daily Growler Powell during the "Aloha Streatery Brunch Bash" on 02/26/2017. Dark brown color with a thin beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, cherry and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, cherry and subtle vanilla. The finish is roasty with a cherry and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
