12 ounce can from Woodman's Appleton, 5/7/2021. Rating as many different states in a row as I can without repeats. Starting on 5/4: IL, CT, NY, VA, TN, IA, MN, AZ, OH, FL, NM, MI, and now TX. Clear amber, large frothy white head, fair retention. Aroma of candied lemon, pale malt. Taste is pale malt, stone fruit, tart lemon. Thin. Very entry level but okay for what it is.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tart with citric aid and lemon. The flavor was tart, tangy and salty with crisp lemon and citric acid. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

Crisp golden coloured body with a light copper glow and a thinnish, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of sour funk, a touch of citrus, some light bananas and wheat and a dose of grain. Light-bodied; Tart grapes and citrus up front with some mellow grass and hay along with a fairly subtle fruit sweetness and a dose of earth all noticeable, but the tart citrus flavours are the strongest Aftertaste shows the dry grass and hay flavours throughout with a bit of the funky yeast, some mild malts and a bit more of the tart flavours to finish it all off. Overall, a surprisingly decent berliner weisse with some good flavours, but not enough complexity or pungency to rival the good beers out there, but this was fairly good, especially for a Shiner beer! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper’s Food Warehouse in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-June-2017 for US$1,25 sampled in my hotel room in Durham, North Carolina after seeing the eclipse on 21-August-2017.

24 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/13/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear golden/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, citrus peel, salt, wheat, cracker, light herbal/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus peels, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, citrus peel, salt, wheat, cracker, light herbal/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light lactic tartness and peppery spiciness on the finish; lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, green apple, white grape, coriander, citrus peel, salt, wheat, cracker, light herbal/pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus peels, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero cloying/puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, fairly grainy/acidic, and slightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is a very nice Berliner weisse. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus peels, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the mellow tartness/acidity. Not as lactic as I expected, but there is still enough there to feel like a classic German style representation. Doesn’t feel watered down for the ABV. Very flavorful, balanced, and enjoyable.

Was glad to see this bottle at market district. Cheap! I like shiner and this was no disappointment. A very good refreshing beer in the mildly tart beer family. Yummy, easy drinkin beer that never lets you know yer drinken. Quite tasty and well reserved, I’d like to drink a sixer of these and I bet I could! Even with a somewhat off putting smell this was one great overall beer tasting experience. I like plain old berliner! Good cutting brew. Nice job shiny. Yes, soft mild ginger ale effects on the palate clear tot he end.
