Bottle shared at Your Old Droog Cellar Blast. Thanks to whoever brought this. Pours a dark brown to pitch black with a small bit of brown head that dissipates. Big maple syrup aromas with dark chocolate and molasses aromas. Palate is similar with some coconut as it warms. Rye whiskey rounds out the sweetness of the adjuncts with a peppery note at the finish. A bit thin overall, but flavors are there.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 9/2016. Pours nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rye whiskey, oak, toasted coconut, almond, and brown bread; with light notes of smoke, coffee, molasses, raisin, plum, cherry, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, spices, rye barrel, and light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rye whiskey, oak, toasted coconut, almond, and brown bread; with light notes of smoke, coffee, molasses, raisin, plum, cherry, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light roast/hop bitterness and rye whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, rye whiskey, oak, toasted coconut, almond, brown bread, light coffee/dark fruit, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, spices, rye barrel, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and rye/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slight dryness from roast bitterness and rye/oak spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly tannic/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Very mild warming alcohol for 11.5%, with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a fantastic rye barrel aged imperial porter! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple syrup, spices, rye barrel, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Pretty much perfectly balanced between the barrel, malt, maple, and spice flavors. Never boozy or tannic from the barrel, but still has great presence. A highly enjoyable offering.
