A deep reddish brew with medium body and carbonation. This toasty, malty, and dry pale ale has a depth of hop taste and roasty notes in the palate and finish and blends the rich malty character of an Amber Ale, the crisp hops of an American Pale Ale, and the roasty, nutty flavors of an English Brown.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/amber, light reddish/copper with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted bread, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, light nuttiness/roast, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, toasted bread, light nuttiness/roast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from carbonation and lingering bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a very nice amber ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and pretty crisp/refreshing to drink. A little over carbed, but didn’t dry out the beer that much. Still had a nice mouthfeel; balanced hop and malt flavors; with mellow balancing bitterness. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle pour in a shaker. Drank with a meal of steak and vegetables. Nice balance of hops, malt, bitterness, and nuttiness. Went well with the steak.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Sean and Amber (2beerguys.com). Look is a hazy brown ale with thin white head that showed plenty of retention. Lots of retention. Nose is hops with slightly roasted malt. Light effervescence with spicy hops. Light lingering hops. Nice to try.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a thin tan head. Aroma was full of pine and floral hops with a slight undertone of grains. Flavor began with grainy malts and then the pine hops take over for a bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle from mibirder. Thanks! Pours a deep nearly cranberry red color with a very large head that won’t go away. Nice lacing. Aroma of grain, grassy hops and a light tart note. Taste is bitter hops, very strong nutty notes, caramel and light grain. Medium bodied. A little off kilter but decent.

Sample at the brewpub: I can’t think of a brewpub that has ever had more than one bitter available at the same time. The beer is a murky brown/orange color with a nil off-white head and spotty lacing. Roasted malt and piney hops aroma. Medium-bodied with a toasted malt character, as well as some nutty and hoppy flavors. The finish is clean and fruity with a mild hops aftertaste. An interesting contrast to the Huxell I tried immediately prior to this, considering they are technically the same style. This one isn’t quite as good but still a decent brew.
