Pours fairly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, peach, pear, apple, fruit peel, peppercorn, white wine, oak, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread, light banana, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, peach, pear, apple, fruit peel, peppercorn, white wine, oak, clove, wheat, cracker, white bread, light banana, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast/tannic wine barrel spiciness, herbal bitterness; touch of tart/tangy wine notes on the finish. Lingering flavors of lemon, peach, pear, apple, fruit peel, peppercorn, white wine, oak, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, moderately grainy/sticky, and slightly acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. A mild warmth of alcohol lingers after the finish from the 10% ABV. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged Belgian strong pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, wine barrel, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and easy to drink for the ABV. Extremely well balanced between yeast/wine barrel flavors; decent malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
