I don't know why they put this beer out there. Some friends and I tried this and nobody could finish it. Can kind of see where they're going but nothing works. No balance. The barrel-aged does not work with the pumpkin does not work with the carbonation does not work with the sweetness does not work with anything

750 ml corked and caged. Bottled in 2015. Aroma is pumpkin, roast, dark fruit, raisin, oak. Pours black with a one finger beige head. Taste is kind of sour, which I don’t think is intentional. Probably infected.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/17/2015. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big pumpkin, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, spicy rye, dark/brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, light bourbon/molasses, and oak/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin/spices, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge pumpkin, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, spicy rye, dark/brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, light bourbon/molasses, and oak/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, spicy rye, dark/brown bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, bourbon, oak/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin/spices, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish; with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged black pumpkin ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin/spices, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the big ABV. Not sure how it tasted fresh; but after over a year of age, the balance and integration of flavors is amazing. A lot of great oak presence, but not a whole lot of bourbon; so likely aged in multiple use barrels. A highly enjoyable offering.

750 c&c from Malt and Vine. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige/tan head. Aroma is more squash than spice? Med + body/foamy carbonation. Flavor is mild pie spices, but there seems to be something I perceive as squash/pumpkin. Flavor is mostly about the spice, which contributes a light burn; burn might be heat, but I think not. It’s strongly flavored, but it’s working much better than o’somany pie spice ales.

Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is pumpkin pie spice with a minor bourbon coming out as this warms. Flavor is more of the pumkin pie spice but a whole lot more of the bourbon barrel than the aroma let on. A nice mix of pumpkin pie spice and bourbon barrel with this beer. This probably did not have to be 11% but the alcohol is not detected in the flavor but this does give a warming feeling. Great bargain bin pick up.

Bottle brought by jcos to share at dbarnold's, 10/31/15
I was surprised this has so few rating, good job getting on Kramer. The beer itself is pretty nice. Pours a dark brownish color. Nice head on top. Good spice-forward aroma with some oak flavors as well. Nicely balanced and drinkable considering the ABV on this one.
