Brown Ale Brewed With Maple Syrup Aged in Bourbon Barrels. This award winning seasonal beer was brewed to signify the time of the year when the local Maple syrup producers start tapping their trees to collect sap, while providing you with some alcoholic warmth during these often frigid Winter months in hope of an early Spring. We then aged it in Bourbon barrels. It is a full-flavored malty beer featuring a toasted, nutty character and a hint of maple flavor and aroma. The Bourbon barrel aging adds vanilla notes and increases the alcohol level.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a solid murky red to brown color with a finger’s worth of tan foamy head. Spotty lace.
The aroma had strong maple, some wood, light bourbon, caramel/toffee notes, subtle nuts. Light leafy/earthiness at the very end.
The flavor leaned into the sweetness of it all. Sly little sticky sweet aftertaste running into the finish.
The feel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Some carbonation was felt but nothing barring drinkability. ABV felt good. Fairly smooth, not cloying as some of these maple beers tend to do that.
Overall, nice barrel aged brown ale well worthy of having again if I could get it.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 3/19/2017. Pours lightly hazy reddish/copper/light brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, maple, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, and oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, maple, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, maple, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt and bourbon/oak spiciness balance, with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bourbon/oak spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, lightly silky, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden, a light warmth lingers after the finish; with no barrel booziness. Overall this is a great barrel aged brown ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
