An onslaught of Pacific Northwest hops, tamed slightly by a malt backbone. Cascade, Chinook and Columbus hops, meet Caramel and Munich malts to create this "Mid-Coast" IPA.

Pretty hazy copper and bright orange/amber coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan and off-white head that stays afloat with some big bubbles. Aroma of biscuity, crisp malts with some softer piney and nutty scents as well and a dash of bitterness is seemingly there, too. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty, rustic and earthy malts show at first with a pretty big bitterness from some deep hop notes that finishes with a light citrus/grapefruit flavour as well, with a pretty nice balance. Aftertaste is rich, especially for the style, with a lot of malts that come out more than expected, with a deeper, nuttier side as well, with a good sweetness from fruits, it seems. Overall, a nice, crisp, balanced, rich and still hoppy IPA that is pure old school - with an East Coast bite. Good to sample, especially as a Michigander and one who loves the U.P., on my recent trip up North with my wife and three kids. Worth grabbing if you are up North here! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Super One Foods in Marquette (Wegaunee), Michigan on 05-August-2021 for US$1,67 (as part of a mixed six pack), with the 'enjoy by' date of 29-June-2021, but sampled a year after that date on 13-July-2022.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear orange amber with a finger of beige head. Caramel and bready malt aromas with a touch of honey. Grapefruit, citrus and pine on the palate with more sweet malt notes. A bit too sweet for the kind of IPAs I enjoy best, but well done midwest IPA.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a slight amber hue and a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has pine and grapefruit with some grass and grains supporting. Flavor has a nice pine note supported by grapefruit, citrus and a bit of grain.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Good appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthines on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice compelxity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors lingering after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/creamy/bready, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn good IPA! All around great compelxity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/pine hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
