12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/19/2015. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, slight dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, wood, slight dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, herbal, wood, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from roast/hop bitterness than increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Foreign stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on to style expectations.

5th Annual MBG Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Murky brown body, thin/medium cream head. Very light aroma with roasted malts and carob. Body of burnt brown sugars, toffee, and licorice. Sharply carbonated. Not bad, but go for the Imperial Stout.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a fluffy dark tan head. Aroma is very rich and creamy with lots of roasted character, coffee, cocoa. Flavor is also quite roasty and creamy with notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of dark fruit. Roasty finish with a touch of bitter hops. Excellent job!
