Can from Busch's. Pours a clear chestnut with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Toasted caramel, toffee and notes of tea and red fruit. Not overly sweet on the palate with similar notes from the nose. Drying finish with a touch of minerality.

Sample from bottle @ Borefts. Caramel and toffee in the aroma. Toffee flavor with caramelly notes. Sweetish with red berries and a hint of citrus. Decent.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, light plum/apple, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, light plum/apple, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.3%. Overall this is a very nice Dusseldorf Altbier. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft. A decent, quaffable example of the altbier style. Not too malty or heavy. Went well with my meal.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy amber to copper color with a half finger’s worth of white foamy head. When it started to dissipate, there was some stringy lacing.
The smell had a roasty sort of nutty/fruitiness.
The taste was nutty sweet. There was a creamy malty aftertaste with the pretty much the same kind of finish.
On the palate, it sat fairly light to show a decent sessionability about it.
Overall, hey, not a bad altbier. I could see myself having this again and possibly even having it with its respected food.

Reddish brown colour, cream head. Fruity aroma, malts, caramel, iron, apple and apricot. Quite sweet malty flavour, fruity, apricot. Slightly thin texture, caramel, fruits. Quite rounded.
Nice, too bad of the iron in the nose.
(From 355mL bottle @ the train towards Borefts. Shared with MaartenRF10, and a bunch of others in the line after arriving. From trade with mikem409, thanks!)

Bottle sample @ Borefts 2012 - thx. to Tinus - clear copper - sweet malts - clearly lager / lager yeast - apples, tad syrup and touch of copper - thought this was some kind of bock - soft, lightly creamy

12 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark copper color with a medium white head. A sweet malty caramel nose. A dry earthy flavor with caramel and biscuit. Really like an amber ale. Pretty good.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium beige head that recedes slowly to a film. The aroma is caramel malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, yeast and mild hops. The finish is fruity with a short malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
