A beer originally brewed for the man behind the mugs, known by his friends as RAD. This is a Robust Porter that's full of deep chocolate and dry roast flavors. A beer suited to help RAD get through those 24 hours kiln firings. We think you will enjoy it.

12 ounce can from Brennan's Cellars, 5/11/19. Purchased 5/3/19 and best by 4/17/19. I will be downgrading that place rating to refect out of date beer being sold in a moment. Black, medium foamy brown head, good retention. Aroma of roast and coffee. Taste is roast, coffee, chocolate. Medium bodied, simple but well executed. Nice beer despite being past its peak.

12oz can. Black-brown body. Amber malt comes through some, otherwise a pretty classic oily Porter. Doesn't really nail it, more amateur American than World Class English. Drinkable nonetheless. The aroma gets more unenjoyable every whiff. Maybe too old of a can.

Can. Black body with a beige head, diminishing. Aroma of roasted grain, ash, cherry, cocoa. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Dry finish. Taste of roast bitterness, sweet cream, char, cocoa. Lingering bitterness. Enjoyable.

12 ounce can into pint glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, light pepper/pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, light pepper/pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, light pepper/pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from hop/roast bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice American porter style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering that is spot on to style all the way through.
