Bottle. Another really good beer from the boys of Louisiana. Slightly cloudy, medium brown ale with a large white head. Aroma is roasted bouts with hints of maple and caramel. Taste is maple, caramel roasted nuts with just a touch of sweetness.
Tastes good. Sweet and smooth. Not so much of the burbon, which I actually like.

Oak, bourbon, and caramel nose. Cloudy rust, thick orange head, nice lace. Caramel, oak, bourbon. Pecan finish. Medium body, easy carbonation. Quite drinkable, a bit more bourbon than I like, but nice nutty base beer.

Bottle. A- Sweet, maple, nuts, sweet and sour mix, oak, whisky. A- Reddish brown color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Sweet, malty, fake maple syrup, slightly tart, oak. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly off finish. O- This tasted like it was almost flirting with infection. A bit tart and sour although I’m sure it was just from the oak and whisky. Didn’t get much pecan other than it seemed to add a dryness to it. The maple was not a real smoky maple flavor. Just not what this beer should have been.

Bottle pours with a clear brown body that supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up some nice nutty notes to go along with sweet malts and sweet molasses. The thin taste delivers muted nuttiness and then some molasses like sweetness to midway. It gets a little more nutty here and there but the thin body and shallow depth make for a pretty straight forward beer experience rather than a rich one. Still it’s pretty nice stuff.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was just released. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, maple, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, light bourbon, light herbal, light plum/fig, and oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, maple/pecan, bourbon barrel, and light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, maple, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, light bourbon, light herbal, light plum/fig, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, maple, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, vanilla, toasted oak, light bourbon, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, maple/pecan, bourbon barrel, and light fruity fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/oak/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly silky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged imperial brown ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, maple/pecan, bourbon barrel, and light fruity yeast flavor; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. This had a really nice amount of toffee/vanilla barrel character while having a lower amount of bourbon flavors; which made it very smooth and not boozy like some bourbon barrel aged beers can be. A very enjoyable offering.
