12 OZ.Can into a chalice. Brewed in Denver. Six pack has a sticker that reads: 2005. Assuming that’s Julian for brewed July 19, 2015. If correct, that is SUPER fresh. A: My can pours clear, dull orange body with little to no visible bubbles, but the head was nice and thick. Only very spotty lace left. Others mention sediment but none here. S: An unusual sweet smell of some overripe but slightly tart fruit. Pruny but not as sickeningly sweet. No hops detected. Smells like some stouts. T: I get a bit of roast at first and then some subtle hop bitterness. Not nearly as sweet as the nose would imply. A lot like a weaker version of a couple of amber ales I particularly like but not quite sharp and snappy on the finish enough to scream "Pale Ale". English pale ale maybe but this is not what I expect in an APA. Not a knock though as it tastes pretty good. Roasty and only slightly caramelly to me, though a bit watery. Hops are pronounced but not nearly as intense as I expected from prior reviews. M: Lazy but persistent bubbles wash the tongue and the slight heft on the body belies the watery flavor. Slightly sticky on the medium malty finish. O: Not a bad beer but seems to have an identity crisis. Neither quite an APA or amber ale. Maybe a decent bet for an English PA. Maybe I’ve misread the date code. At any rate, not worth the $10/6 price IMO. Try if you like EPAs but just buy a single.

From a can cloudy orange brown like a hefe perhaps. Sweet rather cloying alarming smell. Taste is at first not as rude as I was expecting. Actually has a slight tartness to it but then those ammo hops come diving in to yer palate for that expected hop impact. Yes, much milder than expected, more on the line of what I would expect a APA to be like. Is just less sweet and less cloying than the aroma would indicate but overall this stuff is quite civilized. Yea, pretty good overall beery tasting experience, much better than expected.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no canning date. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of citrus hops and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, light pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and robustness of citrus hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid pale ale. All around good balance and robustness of citrus hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Sample at the tap room in Denver. Clear orange-amber color with a medium foamy eggshell white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Sticky top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of floral hops, fruit and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, biscuit malt and fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
