Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left goo lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with toffee and a hint of a vegetal note. The flavor was sweet, malty and toasty with caramel and again the vegetal note. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Ok.

Semi clear dark copper pour with a tiny head and no retention. No lacing. Weird taste for an Oktoberfest. Like a smokey Scottish ale. Not terrible but this is no Oktoberfest.

12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, chocolate, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/roasted malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a god bit. Nice complexity and solid robustness of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with minimal cloying sweetness after the finish. Very clean malt flavors with minimal yeast ester presence. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice oktoberfest. Good complexity and solid robustness of dark/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. I felt the malt flavor was lacking after the big nose, and the body could have been a bit fuller; but this was nicely enjoyable overall.
