Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty with notes of chocolate, anise and a hint of cherry. The flavor was toasty with notes of cherry, anise, a bit of chocolate and cream. Lng anise, cherry and chocolate finish. Moderately full bodied and silky. Interesting.

On tap at Jacob Wirth’s Comes to the table a solid black without much of a head in a weirdly small glass. Chocolate and tart cherry aroma and flavor. Interesting beer that paired well with meatloaf.

22 ounce bottle. Translucent deep brown color topped by a big rocky tan head. Subtle sweet cocoa malt aroma. Upfront, there is a meld of flavors, including notes of sweet dark malt, black cherries, milk chocolate and light smoke. Smooth and silky, with a delicious complex roasted maltiness. The cherry and cocoa are subtle, yet distinctly present. This is a very good porter, worth seeking out.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head pancakes as it recedes leaving trailing sheets. Velvet cake aromas. Thin and dry with sweet cherry and chocolate upfront continuing through the a strong, warming lasting cherry finish.
